    M.D (Doctor of Medicine)-Naturopathy

  • Eligibility for Admission

    A candidate affiliated to this university and who has passed final year BNYS examination after pursuing a study in any college of Naturopathy and Yogic sciences affiliated to any other university recognized as equivalent there to, and has completed one year compulsory rotating internship in a teaching institution or other institutions and has obtained permanent registration from any college of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences from any recognized university.

    ND-a full time four and four and a half year program from Osmania University, Hyderabad

    Degree/diploma in Yoga/Yoga & Naturopathy/Naturopathy obtained in distant mode/correspondence are not eligible for the said course

  • General Objectives:

    At the end of the postgraduate training in the discipline concerned the student shall be able to:

    • Recognize the importance of the concerned specialty in the context of the health need of the community and the national priorities in the health sector
    • Practice the specialty concerned ethically and in step with the principles of primary health care.
    • Demonstrate sufficient understanding of the basic sciences relevant to the concerned specialty particularly to understand the physiological effects and clinical applications of natural medicine& yoga.
    • Identify social, economic, environmental, biological and emotional determinants of health in a given case and take them into account while planning therapeutic, rehabilitative, preventive and promotive measures/strategies.
    • Diagnose and manage majority of the conditions in the specialty concerned on the basis of clinical assessment, and appropriately selected and conducted traditional and conventional investigations.
    • Plan and devise measures for the prevention and rehabilitation of patients suffering from disease and disability related to the specialty.
    • Demonstrate skills in documentation of individual case details as well as morbidity data relevant to the assigned situation.
    • Demonstrate empathy and humane approach towards patients and theirfamilies and exhibit interpersonal behavior in accordance with the societal norms and expectations.
    • Play the assigned role in the implementation of national health programs, effectively and responsibly.
    • Organize and supervise the chosen/assigned health care services Demonstrating adequate managerial skills in the clinic/hospital or the field Situation
    • Develop skills as a self-directed learner, recognize continuing educational needs, select and use appropriate learning resources.
    • Demonstrate competence in basic concepts of research methodology and epidemiology, and be able to critically analyze relevant published research literature.
    • Development skills in using educational methods and techniques as applicable to the teaching of medical/nursing students, general physicians and paramedical health workers.
    • Develop skills in using educational methods and techniques as applicable to the teaching of medical/nursing students, general physicians and paramedical health workers.Functionas an effective leader of a health team engaged in health care, research training.
  • Duration of study

    The course of study shall be for a period of three years. For in-service candidates who are working in Government or private Naturopathy and yoga medical colleges having a minimum clinical experience of 15 years or 10 years of teaching experience, an exemption of one year can be given.

  • Intake of students

    The intake of students to each course shall be in accordance with the ordnances this behalf. The maximum number of post-graduate seats shall not exceed 10 per institution per academic year.
